Our new town Justice Christie D’Alessio will be sworn in Wednesday February 28th at 7:30pm at Town Hall at the beginning of the Town Board meeting. Judge D’Alessio was unanimously appointed by the Town Board to the court. Judge D’Alessio is an exceptionally qualified individual who has dedicated her legal career as a public servant in local government. One week before she took the bench, Judge D’Alessio visited the Westchester Youth Shelter, a residential facility for boys ages 16 to 21, knowing that some community members could be housed there during the pendency of a criminal case. Judge D’Alessio thought it was important to make an immediate impact as a new Judge on the youth in our community. Judge D’Alessio is a member of the Women’s Bar Association and is eager to develop internship programs for the court, alternatives to incarceration and programs available to improve the reduction of recidivism. She has strong ties with interns in the County court where she works always trying to help them with job placement. To that end, she thought it would be appropriate to have a former intern attend the swearing in to sing the national anthem. Judge D’Alessio is keenly aware of the new “Raise the Age Law” and is prepared to handle cases that are impacted when the law goes into effect. She will be sworn in by Judge Anne E. Minihan, Acting Supreme Court Justice who appointed Ms. D’Alessio as her principal law clerk in Westchester County and Supreme Court. Judge D’Alessio will continue to serve as Judge Minihan’s clerk on a part time basis. Judge D’Alessio is enthusiastic about serving the community with Judge Bonnie Orden and Judge Dolores Brathwaite.
