TWN CAN RENT WOODLANDS FITNESS CENTER..E HARTSDALE UPDATE
Release Date: July 30, 2007

Earlier this year the Greenburgh Central 7 School district announced plans to sharply reduce the number of hours their fitness center is open to the public-- after hours. This fitness center is terrific - much better than the fitness center at Rumbrook or at the Theodore Young Community Center.  I asked the town to rent the fitness center and make it available to residents of unincorporated Greenburgh as part of our recreation programs.  A member of the Town Council questioned the legality of the proposal. I requested an opinion from the Town Attorney and was provided with the following response.
Paul: After doing some research with respect to your July 11, 2007, email I recently learned that the Town currently has an Inter-municipal Agreement (IMA), dated March 31, 2004, with the Greenburgh Central 7 School District that permits the Town to use certain facilities owned by the District for Town programs and the District to use certain facilities owned by the Town for school programs pursuant to General Municipal Law. These uses include Town uses related to Parks and Recreation and for polling sites.
No money is exchanged pursuant to the IMA, only indemnification for injury, damage and the like. Nevertheless, the Town could rent space from the District pursuant to a similar agreement.

East Hartsdale Ave is coming back! The Farm is holding their grand re-opening this week. And, the bakery had a sign on their window promising an August 1st re-opening. The jazz concerts on Saturday's continue to be a big success.
