‘Team Lorraine,’ Composed Of Her Former Cycling Buddies, Biked From Hartsdale To Washington, DCAnd Met With Schumer On Day The President Vetoed Stem Cell Legislation

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer will meet with members of Westchester’s ‘Team Lorraine’ to expand efforts to override the President’s veto of the Stem Cell Research Bill on Friday, August 25, at 12:45 pm. On July 17 when President George W. Bush vetoed the Stem Cell Legislation that had recently passed Congress, Schumer met with ‘Team Lorraine’ on the steps of the Capitol after their bike ride from Hartsdale to Washington, DC.

Lorraine Valentini was a Hartsdale volunteer firefighter, retired English teacher and U.S. Champion Cycling before she sustained a spinal cord injury in a biking accident in 2005. ‘Team Lorraine’ was created by her friends to raise awareness for stem cell research and spinal cord injuries. Schumer will be joined by Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, who led the bicycle ride to Washington, DC and Founder and Director of ‘Team Lorraine’ Colleen Kelly.
