Release Date: June 08, 2006

The Greenburgh Town Boardwill vote on a proposal to accept $96,224 for renovations to WebbParkat our June 14th Town Boardmeeting. The funds were obtained from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development thanks to the efforts of Congresswoman Nita Lowey.

This grant will assist with improving the appearance of WebbParkand the 9/11 Memorial Wall, which is a constant reminder of the tragedy of 9/11 and its victims.

These upgrades and renovations are imperative to beautification and transformation of WebbPark. The landscaping could include construction of a walkway from the parking lot of Webb Park to the memorial wall, construction of a walkway from Memorial Wall to Harvard Lane, Landscaping of the park and the area around the Memorial Wall, Hardscaping of the Walkway surrounding the memorial wall, site furnishings- park benches; over-sized planters and receptacles, plants, trees and shrubs and parking lot improvements.

The grant has been authorized by HUD and the US Congress but must be approved by the Town Board. I have scheduled a meeting with neighbors of WebbParkfor Wednesday, June 21st at 7:00 PMto discuss the implementation of the grant. It’s my hope that some of the landscape enhancements can take place this fall. PAUL FEINER
