HELP A HARTSDALE  VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER WHO IS PARALYZED BELOW HER NECK

Last memorial day Lorraine Valentini had a tragic bicycle accident in which she severely injured her spinal cord, resulting in paralysis below her neck. This has been devastating – not only to Lorrainebut to her family, friends, and neighbors. Lorraine, a retired English literature teacher, was an accomplished cyclist, runner and Hartsdale volunteer fire fighter.

This summer I will be cycling from Hartsdale to WashingtonDCalong with about 25 others. Each of us will be raising a minimum of $2500 for the National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF). Funds will be used to help Lorrainereceive the essential care and advanced therapies she needs, all of which go far beyond her insurance provider’s standards. We will also be meeting with members of the US Senate and House of Representatives to highlight the need for funding STEM cell research. Along the way we plan to stop at the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Foundation in NJ and the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Baltimore, MD.

Lorrainewas always ready and willing to help others in the community. Now that she needs our help- I hope that you will consider helping her. Please send a check payable to the National Transplant Assistance Fund (non profit organization) to me – PAUL FEINER, c/o GreenburghTown Hall, 177 Hillside Ave, Greenburgh, NY10607.
