The Town of Greenburghtoday took ownership of the Waterwheel property in Ardsley. The property was officially transferred to the town when the deed was recorded with the County Land Records office on April 12th (today). Yesterday, the Supreme Court denied a motion to reargue by the former owners of the above property who owed $180,891.23. The town owns the property. But, the location is within the borders of the Village of Ardsley. The town will work cooperatively with the Villageof Ardsleyon the development of the property. I have been in touch with Ardsley Mayor Jay Leon who is also excited about turning this into a win-win for everyone. The Mayor and Village leadership have expressed a desire to have this property developed for affordable housing to attract more volunteer emergency service workers to the village. It’s our hope that this objective can become a reality. If the waterwheel property is turned into affordable housing it will be the 3rd time that the town has turned foreclosed property into affordable housing opportunities. Last week the town turned over to Hastingsforeclosed land for 14 units of affordable housing. Yesterday, the Town Boardmet with representatives of SHORE and agreed to turn over another parcel of land in Ardsley for 2 units of affordable housing. GreenburghTownSupervisor
