TELEVISE WORK SESSIONS OF TWN BD
Release Date: March 14, 2006

PROPOSAL: TELEVISE TOWN BD WORK SESSIONS...
SEELY PLACE SIDEWALK PROPOSAL SUBJECT OF OUTDOORS MEETING/WALK 3/27

I  propose that work sessions of the Greenburgh Town Board be televised.  It’s important that residents understand that most decisions are not made at Greenburgh Town Board meetings but at work sessions.   Only a few people attend work session meetings.. Televising work sessions will also provide the public with the chance to understand the give and take that takes place at meetings – the reasons why we make the decisions we do.

In recent months the Town Board has worked extremely hard monitoring proposed legislation, reviewing recommendations, scrutinizing budget issues. Most of our work sessions, which begin at 3:30 PM, end after 11 PM–one meeting continued till 2 AM

On another matter- there will be an outdoor information meeting re: proposed sidewalk at Seely Place on Monday, March 27th at 7 PM (meet at Seely Place School). Some civic association leaders have requested that we construct sidewalks at Seely Place in Edgemont. This meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to ask questions, to understand their legal responsibilities once a sidewalk is built. In addition, the meeting will provide town officials and the community with the opportunity to determine which side of the street a sidewalk should be built on - if it is approved. And, to determine if mailboxes, shrubs, plantings have been improperly placed on town right of way. If sidewalks are built they will have to be moved. $250,000 has been included in the proposed capital budget for sidewalk construction/rehabilitation.
