Photo's from Vietnam Veterans Wall (Elmsford)...some confusion among resident re: assessment change
Release Date: June 07, 2018

The travelling Vietnam Veterans Wall is in Elmsford and is open 24 hours till June 10th at DeLuca Park, North Hillside Avenue in Elmsford. Photo's are attached. It's spectacular.  Three  Elmsford residents died during the Vietnam war--Private First Class Ronald McCracken, Corporate Anthony Pino and First Lieutenant Norman Paulsen.  I took some photo's that are attached.

THE ASSESSOR WILL BE PREPARING A MEMO EXPLAINING THE ASSESSMENT CHANGE NOTICES (I wrote the following because I know that the stress level of some people is high and don't want you to think you are getting a big tax hike when you won't)...

I received a bunch of e mails and phone calls from residents about the assessment change notices that went out. I spoke with the Assessor, Edye McCarthy who is out of town. She is preparing a written explanation which I will post on the town website as soon as I receive her memo -clearing up the confusion that many residents have. In the meantime- I encourage you to watch the you tube explanation from last year.

If you received an assessment change it does not necessarily mean your taxes will go up. The residents who will experience larger tax hikes are those who enhanced their properties.

NYS requires the town to main 100% assessments. Every year assessments will change to reflect the trend. If all residential properties within your neighborhood received the same market % change the various budgets are distributed the same way as the previous year.

You can call the Assessor's office at 914 989 1520 if you have questions. Should you disagree with our assessment and think the value of your home is less than it is assessed you need to file a grievance with the Greenburgh Board of Assessment Review on or before 619/2018 before 9 PM.

Please watch the following video which may answer some questions you have about the process. Hopefully, I will post the new explanation from the Assessor shortly.
