I am attaching  two photos related to the Town Board condition for a sidewalk along Benedict Avenue for the Hackley School Pool/Athletic Complex project. The sidewalk is complete and improves safety and quality of life in the vicinity of the project and for pedestrian users of Hackley. This sidewalk, added to the same network built out in connection with the Brightview Assisted Living Facility and Stop & Shop approvals, represents great planning work of the Board.  The sidewalk on Secor was completed recently. We’re excited about our upcoming new sidewalk construction initiatives –to take place in 2018 and beyond.

The Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics (IAHD) was created in 1957 in response to a group of parents seeking supports and assistance for their children with special needs. At that time, programs for individuals with developmental disabilities were few, and families were in crisis. IAHD's founder, Dr. Jack Gootzeit, had started a small program in the Bronx, and his interactions with the children and their families drew upon his physical therapy background, his incorporation of swimming, reflexology, physical activation, behavior strategies and counseling techniques. His early successes facilitated the ambulation of children who might not have otherwise learned to walk, and before long, many parents were turning to IAHD for support. Tireless advocacy and the adaptation of programs and services to meet the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities helped IAHD expand its broad network of supports and develop into the agency it is today.
