Central Ave travel advisory-water work on White Plains/Greenburgh border
Release Date: May 25, 2017

In recent weeks many residents of Greenburgh have been inconvenienced while travelling on Central Ave -near the White Plains border. White Plains is upgrading their water system and parts of Central Ave has been blocked off, creating traffic problems. At the Town Board meeting last night Commissioner of Public Works Victor Carosi advised that the work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.  It might take a little longer to repave the road and complete the clean up. Sorry for the inconvenience

The flushing is for the City of White Plains and relates to work they are performing on the 48 inch transmission main that supplies White Plains water.  The pipe is independent of Greenburgh and under the control of Westchester County.

The White Plains project, at Central Ave and Cross Street is to improve the disinfection of the water supply for White Plains.  The hydrants open near Best Buy are connected to this transmission water main.  The flushing is necessary for the work.
