Local hero--Fairview Firefighter Robert Mentrasti who lost life due to 9-11 related cancer
Release Date: April 16, 2017

The Fairview Fire department and the town of Greenburgh lost a hero. On 9-11 Robert Mentrasti raced down to NYC as part of the Greenburgh technical rescue team. He was at ground zero within two hours after the plane hit the north tower. He stayed till midnight. He returned many times to remove debris. And to help out.  Sadly, he lost his life due to a 9-11 related cancer.
Robert Mentrasti was a respected, well liked  and extraordinary Fairview firefighter and public servant. He also did incredible charitable work for MDA. He will be receiving a line of duty funeral on Wednesday April 19th. The Greenburgh Town Board will have a moment of silence in his honor at our April 26th Town Board meeting.  Our hearts go out to his family and to his many friends.
