Student news network launches opportunities for students to produce their own TV news shows

Student News Network begins spring semester of TV news production –starting this Thursday!
If you are a student interested in government, journalism, TV production, producing and starring in your own TV news/public service announcement shows—please sign up for a free Student News Network program. You’ll learn a lot and have lots of fun. Great for resumes, college applications.
SPRING 2014 Greenburgh Student News Network Launch! Finally!!!
 
When:  Thursday, April 3, 2014; 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Where:  Greenburgh Town Hall; 177 Hillside Avenue, Greenburgh, NY  10607
What:  Over the course of six (6) weeks  on Thursday’s (April 3rd to May 8th ) (We will not meet the week of April 14th), students will research and develop Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) on a topic that is important to them.  Students can add their original PSA’s to their own portfolios for high school and college.  The PSA’s will be aired as a commercial on the Greenburgh Public Access Television channels!
Who:  High School Students; Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 
Criteria:  Willingness to communicate, share, learn, generate creative ideas for the project,  complete the project and have fun! 
What Else???!!!:  Guest speakers and, we’re working on a possible field trip to NBC Studios
PSA-Persuade Audience to take Action – Awareness – Show Importance of Problems/Issues – Convey Information – Promote Change
 
Program Consultants/Leaders
 
Patricia S. Lang  spent nearly 40 years at NBC.
Worked as a Production Associate, Associate Director, and then Director at NBC News.
Worked on various broadcasts including TODAY show, NBC Nightly News, the 50th Anniversary of D-Day, and many breaking news broadcasts. 
Graduated Magna Cum Laude Boston University.
 
Janelle Wallace has a background in Media, Film & Television and is knowledgeable in various multimedia platforms. She currently works within the Greenburgh Public Access Television station as an Assistant to the Director of Cable Programming and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Educational Technology.
