WORRIED ABOUT LOSING YOUR MILITARY DISCHARGE PAPERS-- local veterans can file their DD 214 military discharge papers with the office of County Clerk Tim Idoni. Veterans bring their original DD 214 discharge papers to the County Clerks office. A clerk will make a digital copy. The copy is sealed to protect and preserve privacy, filed and the original returned to the veteran a few minutes later. The document will be stored in perpetuity. Should the veteran ever lose the document the County Clerks office will provide a copy for free. Call 995 3070. Interviews with veterans were organized by Alan Hochberg and Steve Wittenberg during the past 4 years. Our living history initiative continues with more tapings every week of the year. Interviews are televised during Memorial Day weekend and Veterans day weekends non stop. All tapes are archived at the Greenburgh Library and at the United States Library of Congress.
