SOLOMON SCHECHTER SCHOOL/MARIA REGINA MAY GET NEW STOPLIGHT IN 2012. Construction of a stop light, to be paid for by Solomon Schechter, could take place in 2012. Solomon Schecter is seeking permission to install a light at their entrance. If approved by NYS Department of Transportation , work could start this spring. If the light is installed there will be no need for a police officer to direct traffic during school closing times. Solomon Schechter had been paying the town for a police officer since they opened their school. The officer has worked as a crossing guard and has ensured that the streets are safe for pedestrians and drivers. Although a light is expensive, the school won’t have the daily expenses anymore of paying for a police officer. Even thought we did not pay for overtime, under NYS law pensions are based on total pay, including overtime.
NextG will discuss their application to place antenna’s around the town at the Town Board work session on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Their entire presentation will be conducted in open session. Residents are invited to attend. We anticipate the meeting will last about 45 minutes. The meeting will be televised on public access TV and streamed live on the internet. The presentation will also be archived on the town website (Town Board meeting archives).
