GREENBURGH LIBRARY BD EXPRESSES INTEREST IN CONSOLIDATION WITH AREA LIBRARIES TO SAVE MONEY...
Release Date: December 07, 2011

Some members of the Greenburgh Library Board and the Executive Director of the Library met with the Greenburgh Town Board last night. I was pleased that they expressed interest in reviewing the possibilities of consolidation with some or all of the other five village libraries located within Greenburgh.  At their request, I am going to be outreaching to our Albany lawmakers and will be asking the state to provide financial incentives to libraries that consolidate administration.  It’s my hope that the libraries in the villages will also be open minded about this matter. I will contact them again….
The property tax cap approved by the State Legislature and Governor earlier this year will force all local governments to think out of the box.  Can we afford to have six separate library administrations in our town?  Residents currently have access to all libraries in Westchester if they have a Greenburgh or village library card.
