WELCOME, Assemblyman Abinanti!
Release Date: January 09, 2011

Assemblyman Tom Abinanti will be sworn into office today at 2 PM at Greenburgh Town Hall. We wish our new Assemblyman the best of luck in his new job and look foreward to having the opportunity to work with him on state legislative initiatives that will help the town be run in the most efficient manner possible. We're seeking permission from the state to impose a hotel tax on guests (the state granted other Westchester communities this right last year and in previous years). A hotel tax would generate six figures for the towns and significant additional revenue to villages that have hotels.  The dollars we raise from guests will be used to reduce any tax hikes. Assemblyman Abinanti is also working with the town as we review the issue of reassessment. We're going to ask for legislation that will enable us to address hardships once reassessment takes place. We also are going to work with Assemblyman Abinanti , reviewing theproperty tax cap legislation that the Governor is seeking and on mandate reductions. Assemblyman Abinanti, a former Greenburgh Town Councilman and Legislator, has been responsive, hard working and independent. I think he will be a great Assemblyman and feel that our town is lucky to have him in Albany.
