Cablevision franchise hearing wednesday
Release Date: July 14, 2003

The Town Board will be holding a preliminary hearing, required by law, prior to the beginning of the negotiations for a renewal of the cable tv franchise agreement with Cablevision. The hearing: This Wednesday, July l6 at 7:l5 PM at Babbitt  Court (an outdoor meeting). In the event of rain meeting will be held at Teamsters Union Local 456, l60 Saw Mill River Road, Elmsford. This is one of a series of summer outdoor meetings--held to solicit feedback from different neighborhoods. Babbitt Court has experienced flooding problems. Last year the town received a grant to uplift people's homes. SEMO will make a presentation on the status of the Flood Hazard Mitigation Grant.  PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE TOWN BOARD HAS NOT STARTED NEGOTIATIONS YET. THERE ARE MANY ISSUES THAT HAVE TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT IS CONSIDERED. I have been writing to Cablevision expressing concerns about rate increases, program changes and also believe that more should be done in our schools.
