Update from the chief re: Edgemont burglaries

A number of people have contacted me in recent weeks about the rash of burglaries in Edgemont. the following is a summary of a response from the Police Chief. Hope it will be reassuring to residents of Edgemont.

There have been a number of burglaries in Edgemont over the past several months. Several weeks ago we made an arrest and they stopped until last weekend. We have since made a second arrest. There are already extra patrols in the area in the form of Street Crime officers in plain clothes and unmarked cars. Many studies have confirmed that additional marked patrol units do not deter this crime. We have a Crime Prevention officer, P.O. Peter Dandreano, who specializes working with neighborhood groups interested in home burglary prevention initiatives.
