The Greenburgh Town Boardheld a special meeting on July 25th.

ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION OF ASSESSOR---NEED TO APPOINT AN INTERIM ASSESSOR

We accepted the resignation of Gerry Iagallo as Town Assessor. Friday is the assessor’s last day in office. Unlike mayors of cities I do not have the power to appoint an interim or permanent appointee. I have requested that the Board appoint an individual to this position this week so we can have a smooth transition. It is very important that we have a department head in control of the office. It is also important that we have a qualified assessor to carry on the duties of the office. In the next few weeks the school tax bills will be generated by the tax office but prior to that happening an assessor must certify the accuracy of the tax assessments for each of the town 10 school districts. Furthermore, the assessment roll must be signed by a qualified assessor and finalized by September 15th, 2006– as a matter of law. Many actions by the assessor must take place prior to that time to guarantee that this will happen in a timely manner.  I have made some suggestions to the Town Boardregarding interim appointments.

SCHEDULING PUBLIC HEARING ON CABLE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH VERIZON—AUGUST 9

The Greenburgh Town Boardhas scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, August 9th to consider a cable TV franchise agreement between Verizon and the Greenburgh consortium. The hearing will take place at 7:15 PMat GreenburghTown Hall.  Once an agreement is approved and signed competition between cablevisionand Verizon will begin.

SCHEDULING PUBLIC HEARING FOR WEDNESDAY AUGUST 9 on the proposed amended site plan application for the Greenburgh Public Library. The Town Boardwill hold a hearing on the amended site plan application for the Greenburgh Library expansion project.  At a meeting I attended this week of the committee that meets regularly to discuss the library expansion plans  ( OAT COMMITTEE) we were advised that the library construction is about $400,000 over budget. The architect will be coming up with design alternates to keep the construction project within the 20 million dollars that was authorized last year. I again reiterated my suggestion that the town hire a full time project manager to oversee the expansion. Hopefully, the alternates will not compromise the quality of the expansion.
