MEMORIAL DAY PARADE IN HASTINGS TOMORROW, FAIRVIEW, HARTSDALE AND RIVER VILLAGES MONDAY
Release Date: May 26, 2018

Memorial day weekend is a time to thank our veterans for keeping us safe from harm. We remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed to protect our liberties. We must resolve to defend the liberties we currently enjoy for which the soldiers lost their lives for.  Since the Civil War over 1,000,000 soldiers have died in various wars.  Every year thousands of people enlist in the military meaning that more Americans are willing to risk their lives to protect our democracy.

WATCH OVER 125 INTERVIEWS WITH VETERANS OF WORLD WAR II ALL DAY TODAY TO TUESDAY MORNING ON CABLE TV AND ALSO WATCH LINK TO LAST NIGHTS CEREMONY HONORING WORLD WAR II VETERAN WILLIAM ROBINSON, OUR LOCAL AMBASSADOR TO WASHINGTON DC’S VETERAN CEREMONY

the town, as we have been doing for a number of years, will be airing over 125 interviews with veterans of World War II and  the Korean conflict on local cable TV cablevision channel 76 and Verizon channel 35. The interviews will continue uninterrupted till Tuesday morning.

The interviews were conducted by  Alan Hochberg and Steve Wittenberg. After Alan moved to Florida Hugh McAuley interviewed other veterans as part of our continuing veterans living history initiative.  . The interviews were produced with the help of cable TV access coordinator George Malone and his assistant, Janelle Wallace.

The interviews are aired non stop on public access TV during the Veterans day and Memorial day weekends.   The interviews are being archived at the Greenburgh library. Their initial priority: interviewing the oldest veterans (World War II and Korean conflict). Eventually, veterans of more recent wars will be interviewed.

We are proud of our local heroes and hope that future generations will never forget their contributions to freedom. Sadly, some of the veterans of World War II who were interviewed for our living history project have passed away. Their stories won’t be forgotten.

SALUTING WORLD WAR II VETERAN WILLIAM ROBINSON WHO REPRESENTED THE TOWN OF GREENBURGH –FLYING TO WASHINGTON DC  WITH OTHER VETERANS THIS PAST WEEKEND!

Watch our hero!
Yesterday the Town Board honored William Robinson, a World War II veteran who represented the town in Washington. William is in his 90s, has the most contagious smile  in Greenburgh and is the father of the former Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Human Resources (Theodore  Young Community Center) James Robinson.
