Earlier this year I testified before the Westchester delegation to the NYS Assembly and called on the Legislature to appropriate more funding to repave NYS owned roads within Greenburgh. There are numerous potholes, craters, bumps and cracks on NYS owned roads--including Dobbs Ferry Road 100 B, Grasslands Road 100C, Saw Mill River Road, Route 119, and on Central Ave. These are NYS roads that the state is responsible for repaving.
I frequently contact the NYS Department of Transportation to complain about these infrastructure problems. Potholes are repaired - and then within days turn up again. The last time a NYS road was repaved in Greenburgh was more than three years ago.
The conditions on some of these NYS Roads is horrible. I feel we're driving on roads in a 3rd world country, not in Westchester County.
Last week the town engineering department completed an analysis of road conditions on NYS roads located within the town of Greenburgh. Please take a look at the analysis and photos of some of the unmaintained roads. I have been contacting the Regional director of the NYS Department of Transportation, Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti--hoping that the state will expedite the repaving of these roads.
On a positive note - the staff of the Department of Transportation works hard, they try to be responsive to the town when we have complaints. The problem--they don't have the funds necessary to do the work that has to be done. And, the infrastructure on state roads is crumbling.
