FAMILY GIVES HOUSE TO KATRINA VICTIM TILL JUNE

Kimberly and Carrie Alvanza took their home off the market to help house a victim of hurricane Katrina. They had an offer of more than $500,000 but decided to put a hurricane victim ahead of personal profits.

Later today Thomas Hester, a former Greenburgh resident, who relocated to Biloxi, Ms after serving six years in the Air Force, will be moving in to a house in Hartsdale. He and his family will live in the house RENT FREE TILL JUNE—thanks to the generosity of the Alvanza’s. .

Mr. Hester is looking for a job. He worked as a Restaurant Chef at Harrah’s Grand Casino and Hotel in Biloxi, Ms. Also served as an X-Ray Technician with the US Air Force. And, served as a summer intern with the Greenburgh Sanitation Department. If you know of anyone who might be able to offer Mr. Hester a job please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.  Or, call me at 993-1540. Mr. Hester does not intend to move back to the gulf.

The town of Greenburghis seeking donations to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. A committee is in formation. We will be opening  the old & Town Hall on October 3 and 5 from 10 AMto 6 PM(320 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford) to accept special items needed for shipment: Box Springs, Mattresses, Bicycles, Bed Linen (sheets, pillows, blankets). For information: call Bishop Wilbert Prestonat 948-4596 or Judith Watson at the GreenburghHealthCenter: 989-7603.  The old Town Hall will be used as a drop off center on an as needed basis.
