On August 21, the shadow of a full solar eclipse will move across the United States. The path of this shadow, also known as the "path of totality," is 70 miles wide and will pass over 14 states, from Oregon to South Carolina. The rest of the country, including New York, will experience a partial solar eclipse.
Come experience this once-in-a-lifetime celestial phenomenon at the Hudson River Museum!
- Make pinhole projections, model the earth-moon system in our interactive workshops
- View the partial solar eclipse from the courtyard through our specialized solar telescope and handheld filters, and bring your own special eclipse glasses.
- Starting at 1pm, watch a live stream of the full eclipse from Oregon, where our Planetarium Manager Marc Taylor will be stationed, alongside projections of two real-time simulations in our Planetarium.
