UNSUNG HERO ARDSLEY HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR LIANA PATEL..GREENBURGH'S SUPREME COURT JUSTICE JANET MALONE
Release Date: January 29, 2017

AN UNSUNG HERO TO BE HONORED BY THE TOWN BOARD ON FEBRUARY 8TH
The Greenburgh Town Board and I are always looking to highlight some of our unsung heroes who donate their time helping others. On February 8th at 7:30 PM at the Greenburgh Town Hall we will honor Ardsley High School student Liana Patel --a model citizen and a real inspiration!

The Interfaith Caring Community of Greenburgh (founded in 1983) has worked with some amazing teens who are filled with compassion for others and who focus their lives on doing kindness for those in need.

Liana Patel, a senior at Ardsley High School and President of the Silver Lining Club, a community service club is an unsung hero.  Liana has been participating in monthly Midnight runs-helping the hungry and homeless. She and other volunteers typically get to NYC about 10 PM on Saturday nights and leave about 12:30 to 1 AM.  Liana Patel brings food, clothing and more important respect and friendship to those in need.   Liana offers a positive energy that is powerful that it helps break down barriers. She has worked on cold and rainy nights She relates well to volunteers of all ages and those on the street.

Liana also organizes volunteers for the annual Halloween party for the Coachman Family Shelter. She has organized for Interfaith a food collection at DeCicco's market in Ardsley to benefit the Hudson Valley Community Services and often cooks at the Ardsley United Community Church for the Yonkers Sharing Community.

These are difficult times for our nation. Lots of anger, negativity. Liana brings out the best in people. We should all smile knowing that some of our future leaders are already doing lots of great things.
