GREENBURGH HOUSING AUTHORITY TO RENOVATE PROPERTY
Release Date: July 12, 2005

Representatives of Montrose Management, (managers of 90 & 100 Manhattan Ave and 33 Oak Street apartments -192 units of affordable rentals), appeared before the Greenburgh Town Board in our work session on Tuesday. Montrose is planning to partner with the Greenburgh Housing Authority to renovate and modernize the three buildings (which were built in 1969). The roofs need repair, the kitchens need to be modernized, many enhancements have to be made. The complex will continue to be rentals. Low income families will pay a maximum of 30% of their income towards the rent. Montrose plans to spend about $6 million in renovations and will be seeking a pilot agreement from the town. I suggested that when the buildings are renovated that after school programs/computer programs be offered to tenants with children in the complex. This program can be modeled on successful after school initiatives that are offered to tenants in other parts of the country.  PAUL FEINER
