HARVARD FRESHMAN, WOODLANDS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE, XPOSURE AFTER SCHOOL ALUM WHILE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AWA NYAMBI TO OFFICIATE AT SUPERVISOR FEINER'S SWEARING IN CEREMONY---  Wednesday  January 13 7:30 PM

FEINER BEGINS HIS 25th YEAR IN OFFICE AT WEDNESDAY EVENING TOWN BOARD MEETING

ADDITIONAL CEREMONIAL SWEARING IN CEREMONIES TO BE HELD AT AREA ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner will be sworn into office as Town Supervisor this Wednesday at the first meeting of the Town Board at 7:30 PM at Greenburgh Town Hall. Awa Nyambi, a freshman at Harvard University (with a possible concentration in Economics), a 2015 graduate of Woodlands High School and an alumn (while in elementary school) of the XPOSURE after school program, will officiate at the brief swearing in ceremony which will take place at the beginning of the meeting.  Feiner is beginning his 25th year as Town Supervisor.  Usually Judge's officiate at swearing in ceremonies. But - Feiner decided to use the ceremony to highlight a local Greenburgh success story. A current student of the Greenburgh school district who is enrolled in the Xposure after school program will hold the bible.

While at Woodlands, Mr. Nyambi participated in a myriad of extracurricular activities that ranged from Math team to the Golf Team. . He was President of his school’s National Honor Society Chapter, Captain of the Varsity Soccer and Wrestling teams, Conductor and Section Leader of his high school band, and Vice President of the Links UN Club. Awa also spearheaded  a Business Olympics team to a two-time second place finish at the Westchester Business Olympics and contribute to a two-time League Champion Wrestling team. Outside of school, Awa explored other passions of community service and outreach while leading his local Youth NAACP branch as its President and holding the status of a Deacon at the White Plains Presbyterian Church.

When Awa was in Elementary School, he participated in an afterschool program for Greenburgh youth at the Theodore Young Community Center that influenced him in a major way. At Xposure, an afterschool program that is the brainchild of Raymond Thomas, students learn the basics of financial literacy and what it means to be a smart invester and an even smarter saver. It was at this program that Awa first gained an interest in finance that continued to be cultivated throughout the duration of his experience in Xposure. Awa attributes his current interest in pursuing a career in finance to the initial lessons he learned at Xposure. The Xposure program was a vital element in the making of the student he has become.

Feiner will continue his tradition of having additional ceremonial swearing in ceremonies at elementary schools in Greenburgh.  the schedule:

THURSDAY, January 14th at 9:30 AM--BAILEY SCHOOL, HILLSIDE AVE

TUESDAY, January 19th  1:30 PM  HIGHVIEW SCHOOL, off of Central Ave

WEDNESDAY, January 20th  11 AM  Concord Road Elementary School, Ardsley

THURSDAY, JANUARY 21st  9:30 AM  New York School for the Deaf

Feiner said that people move to Greenburgh because of our outstanding schools which produce terrific local, county, national and world leaders.  Awa represents the best of the best. It's my goal to encourage students to learn about their government, to experience government in action and to eventually get involved in public policy.

newly re-elected Town Councilmembers Kevin Morgan & Ken Jones, Town Clerk Judith Beville, Town Justices Arlene Gordon-Oliver, Delores Brathwaite and Walter Rivera  may participate in all or some of the swearing in ceremonies at area elementary schools. The other re-elected Town Board members will be sworn into office at the January 27th Town Board meeting.
