Received some good news from the United States Congress about our sidewalk to schools initiative. The Congress has authorized additional funds for the DOT's TIGER program --helping local governments build new sidewalks near schools.
The town will apply for the grants. The safety of our children MUST be a very high priority. This funding, if approved for the town, will enable Greenburgh to build more sidewalks around town quicker and will supplement funding in the 2016 capital budget for sidewalks.

It does indeed include additional funds next year for DOT’s TIGER program, which would be the program for updating sidewalks like this. No word on when they will open TIGER up for applications next year, but we’d be happy to provide a letter in support if you all do put in an applications.

Does the budget that was approved last week include funds for sidewalks to schools? Thanks. PAUL FEINER
