IMPORTANT CONFERENCE ON CONCUSSIONS ON AUGUST 20th
I received an important message from Mark Herceg,PhD , Commissioner of Mental Health in the County. Dr. Herceg, an expert in concussions. I attended a seminar he spoke at last year in Irvington. It was very helpful and informative. I strongly recommend that every parent who has a son or daughter involved in sports attend this event and also hope that you will share the info about the conference with coaches, athletic directors, students.

MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER...
You may have heard that the county is having the first conference on concussions on Aug 20th. As you know, this is my area of speciality and focus and I have tried to promote education and awareness throughout the county, even before my appt as commissioner. This is my first initiative through the Dept. Of Mental Health- since most kids who have long term concussion problems have cognitive/behavioral ones. We have a great line up of presenters, including friend/colleague Dr. Gerry Gioia from DC who is a co author of the CDC Heads Up program for high schools.
Attached is the pdf flyer and link for registration. Please spread the word and try and get as many parents, coaches, players, etc to try and attend AND register (it's free!). If possible, please attend as well!
