CONSTRUCTION ON ROAD IMPROVEMENT IN ARDSLEY COULD RESULT IN BETTER TRAFFIC FLOW
Release Date: July 27, 2015

Construction will begin late August/early September for a $1.9 million roadway improvement project in the Village of Ardsley involving the widening of Route 9A (Saw Mill River Road) from Ashford Avenue to Heatherdell Road by one lane, which will substantially increase the length of the existing southbound right-turn lane to Ashford Avenue and add a northbound left-turn lane to the Colonial Court shopping area. Other related improvements include new sidewalks, crosswalks, a relocated bus shelter, and enhanced signage. The project is being constructed in connection with the Ridge Hill development in the City of Yonkers and is anticipated to be complete in 2015.

YOUR THOUGHTS WANTED ON A & P  KNOLLWOOD BANKRUPCY AND SALE
ACME MARKETS TO TAKE OVER –BUT THE STORE COULD BE CLOSED FOR MONTHS WHILE RENOVATIONS TAKE PLACE
WHAT SHOULD THE TOWN DO WHILE SUPERMARKET IS CLOSED?
As you know the A &P supermarket on Knollwood Road will be sold to ACME MARKETS. The A & P has filed bankruptcy. There could be a fair amount of time (months) that the new supermarket will need to update/renovate the space for their needs. We believe that they are hoping for court approval of the sale on or around October 15, 2015. I have reached out to the head of ACME Markets and will try to obtain as much information as possible.
The closing of the A & P and the transition to a new supermarket means that the neighborhood will be WITHOUT a supermarket at this location for a while. How will that impact residents? …seniors without cars? What should the town do to be proactive?  Your thoughts are welcome.  E mailpfeiner@greenburghny.com
