Anthony Barton started a barber in training program at the Theodore Young Community Center. He is DONATING his time to the town. He is currently training 10 student barbers and the barbers provide free haircuts to members of the community on Monday and Wednesdays from 11:30 to 1:30 at the community center. The goal: to help people who can't find work learn the skill and build up their self confidence.

Yesterday he told me that one of his students who had been unemployed for a long time just got a job as a barber. Thanks to Anthony - someone who many considered to be unemployable has a second chance at life. Impressive! Anthony said that his course is open to anyone in the community at no cost. He also said that graduates of his six week training program are almost guaranteed to find a job in Westchester. There is a shortage of qualified barbers.

Anthony and some of his students will be at our new residents/volunteer appreciation reception on Wednesday May 13th from 5:30 to 8 PM. Free haircuts to those who show up. Our reception will be held at AF Veteran park off of Heatherdell Road.

The Tarrytown Music Hall is pleased to announce its third Family Fun Open House Event on Sunday, April 26 from 10am-2pm! Please join us for a fun-filled day of music, circus acrobatics, storytelling, science, arts & crafts, healthy snacks, face painting, and more for the community to enjoy. This event will be FREE and open to the public. No tickets are required.

The line-up of activities and entertainment for our Family Fun Day Open House Event is as follows:

At 1PM prepare to be delighted with Music by the Bossy Frog Band; thrilling young audiences with their 100% interactive, over-the-top, banjo-driven, costume-character-dancing musical performance. Their show has been enjoyed by over 100,000 children and families and their latest recording, "15 Songs Every Kid Should Know (and will LOVE!)," is a Parents' Choice Award winning album!

Ongoing throughout the day, discover nutrition tips from Sheila Emery Murphy, a Holistic Health Coach and Tarrytown resident who will be offering kid-friendly healthy snack samples, quick & easy recipe ideas, and interactive activities to surprise and inspire eaters of all ages.

Westchester Circus Arts will present workshops promoting physical activity, including juggling & acrobatics...Circus Arts students will thrill us with a showcase performance or two throughout the day!

Adventures in crafts and storytelling will be provided by Warner Library of Tarrytown.

Children’s sing-a-long hosted by local guitarist Ron Dexter.

Mad Science will be transforming laboratory science into fun, interactive learning experiences for kids!
