GREENBURGH TOWN BD WON'T EXEMPT LIBRARY
Release Date: March 08, 2005

The Greenburgh Town Board and a representative of the Library Board met in work session on Tuesday afternoon and agreed not to exempt the library/town from local zoning and land use regulations pertaining to the 20 million dollar expansion/reconfiguration of the library. The resolution that had been drafted to exempt the library/town from zoning and land use regulations had been drafted by town staff, without the consent of the library board, according to the library’s representative.

The Greenburgh Town Board will be voting on Wednesday to set a date for the referendum on the proposed 20 million expansion. I continue to believe that the referendum should be held in November (election day) when many more people will vote instead of on May 10th. The cost of holding a special referendum is about $30,000 –election inspectors, etc..
