CRIME IN GREENBURGH AT OLD TIME LOW--
Release Date: February 25, 2005

The Greenburgh Police Department released statistics indicating that Part I offenses in Greenburgh (aggravated assault, burglary, homicide, larceny, motor vehicle theft, robbery and rape) are at an all time low. In 2004 there were 1,029 offenses compared to 1,108 in 2003. This represents a decrease of seventy nine offenses or approximately 7.1%. Overall, decreases were noted in all crime categories except rape. In the 22 years for which the police department has access to crime records 2004 represents the lowest number of reported offenses for any single year.

In recent years crime in Greenburgh has gone down-down-down! We keep reaching new lows. Hats off to the Police Department and the chief for a job well done!   PAUL FEINER, Greenburgh Town Supervisor
