FRANK'S NURSERY SALES CONTRACT ON WEBSITE...MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER AT BOUNCEU
Release Date: May 20, 2013

The Greenburgh Town Board will vote on a proposal to sell Frank's Nursery property to Game On this Wednesday evening. The proposed contract of sale is posted on the town website: www.greenburghny.com.
This facility will create a lasting asset for town residents to enjoy. 2/3rds of the residents of the town voted in favor of having this type of facility in the November 6th referendum. Westchester Field House will provide widespread year round recreational opportunities including soccer, lacrosse, and other sports. Our region needs more recreation. Our children deserve to have more opportunities to enjoy sports.
The town of Greenburgh extracted many concessions from Game On during the negotiations. We are going to sell the property for 3 million, which is two times the fair market value. On the date of the closing we will immediately receive $1.7 million from Game ON –with no conditions. The balance of the 3 million – the additional $1.3 million will be given to the town after the closing. Game On will be responsible for all the environmental cleanup, will pay all the taxes on the property. No tax breaks are offered.
We will also receive additional benefits: Game ON will be providing access to the schools, community center for additional programs.
There are additional benefits to the town. Originally, when we were looking at a lease for the property the deal called for specific types of structure, clubhouse and outdoor field. The town is no longer bound to those specifics and can ensure what is best in the zoning process. The current deal calls for a 93,500 square foot recreational facility but the nature of that facility is to be determined and subject to town approval.
WHY NOT LEASE THE PROPERTY?
Last year, when we went to the voters and asked them to support the Game on proposal, we advocated for a lease However, House of Sports, a competitor to Game On, filed a lawsuit claiming that leasing foreclosed land was not authorized by NYS law. The litigation would have gone on for years with no certain outcome. We did not want to put the sports facility on hold for years.
