USE CAUTION- ON HALLOWEEN. SOME STREETS ARE DANGEROUS, DOWNED, TREES, WIRES. THEODORE YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTER HOLDING A GREAT HALLOWEEN PARTY TONIGHT STARTING AT 6 PM
Spoke with Board of Elections Commissioner today. NYS will be giving priority attention to restoring power to polling places. So, if you live near a school or polling place – your power could be on sooner, rather than later! I wrote a letter to the editor that was published in the on line edition of the NY TIMES today suggesting that the elections be postponed for one week.

To the Editor:

Hurricane Sandy has already caused significant power outages throughout the East Coast. Many people will be without electricity for days. Some won’t have shelter. It’s very possible that some people still won’t have power on Election Day.

I believe that Congress should do what New York City officials did after the 9/11 tragedy (when primaries were postponed for two weeks): The election should be postponed, for a week.

In the coming days most people in communities affected by the hurricane won’t be focusing their attention on the election. And those who remain without power next week may not bother to vote. Some polling places may not even have electricity. Voter turnout will be affected.
