WANTED: STUDENT REPORTERS FOR STUDENT NEWS NETWORK- SERIES BEGIN THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4

This past spring and summer we continued the series- with some outstanding news reporting.

Students who are interested in producing a news program and appearing on local TV are invited to attend an 8 week program. The sessions will be held at Greenburgh Town Hall in the auditorium and in our cable TV studio.

Memorial Service for Brenda Connor-Bey Miller (1944-2012)
Greenburgh's First Poet Laureate
On Saturday, October 13, 2012, a free, community-wide “Celebration of the Life of Brenda Connor-Bey Miller” will be held at ArtsWestchester, 31 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY from 2-4 pm. During the memorial, excerpts from “Through the Mists of Remembering,” a work Ms. Connor-Bey completed just prior to her death, will be staged under the direction of Mara Mills. Representatives from various Westchester organizations that Brenda worked with will speak about their memories of her.
Brenda Connor-Bey, the Town of Greenburgh’s first poet laureate (2006-2010), died on August 18, 2012 after a long illness. She was selected as Poet Laureate for her body of work, contributions to the field of poetry, and encouragement and support of poets and writers of all ages. She continued to exhibit those traits until her death. When asked what being the Poet Laureate of Greenburgh meant, Brenda said, "It’s like being an ambassador for poetry." And what an ambassador she was! Among her many legacies, she created and leaves behind “Learning to See,” an ongoing series of Ekphrastic workshops that bring amateur and established poets together to create new poetry based on visual arts.
