STATE AUTHORIZES TOWN 3RD PART TIME JUDGE Release Date: June 24, 2004
I am pleased to report that the NY State Legislature has approved legislation authorizing the Town of Greenburgh to create a 3rd part time Judge. It is expected that the Governor will sign the legislation. There has been a tremendous backlog of court cases in recent years. Last year I indicated that the creation of a 3rd part time Judge would be a high priority of mine. The additional Judge will assist in clearing the court's backlog and in keeping the court's calendar current in the future. The additional Judge was recommended by the NY State Office of Court Administration. It is expected that the revenue generated from the additional Judge and processing of fines will far exceed the costs. There will be an election for the position this November. Candidates interested in running must submit valid petitions to the Board of Elections to qualify to get on the ballot. PAUL FEINER
