GreenburghTown Supervisor Paul Feiner announced the appointments of David Kreiness of Edgemont and Mary Jane Shimsky of Hastingsas co-chairs of the Committee to Monitor the proposed Yonkers Ridge Hill development project. The proposal includes 1.3 million sq feet of development at the Yonkers/Greenburgh border. Greenburgh community activists and officials are concerned about the impact this proposed development will have on Greenburgh streets. The committee hopes to work to downsize the project and to obtain traffic mitigation measures if the project is approved.

At Wednesday night’s Town Board meeting the Greenburgh Town Board is expected to retain the services of Zarin and Steinmetz , PC for legal services. This firm had worked with the town on other aspects of the Austin Avedevelopment border dispute. In addition, the Town Board will retain Cashin Associates for the environmental review of the Ridge Hill project and Michael Maris Associates for the traffic review of the Ridge Hill project. Greenburgh Councilman Bass had proposed that the town hire outside counsel and traffic consultants a few weeks ago.

Feiner said that Greenburgh expects to be proactive. We want Yonkersofficials to work with us cooperatively as we seek to find solutions to our traffic concerns. Feiner is scheduled to meet with Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone next week and will talk to the Mayor about ways Yonkersand Greenburgh officials could work together on the review.
