You are invited to take a hike..........of parts of the proposed 200 acres of Taxter Ridge in the E Irvington area. The town is considering purchasing the property at a cost to the average resident of about $l5 a year. The hike will take place on Sunday, May 4th at 3:30 PM. Meet at the Roundabend in Tarryhill off Route 9 (near TZ Bridge). Please contact Danny Gold at 59l 8634 before attending since we're still finalizing the details of the walk. Taxter Ridge is the largest undeveloped tract of land in southern Westchester. After you take the walk I'm convinced that you'll join me in recognizing the importance of acquiring this unique parcel of land as open space. Good news: the state and county will contribute 2/3rds of the cost of the acquisition. In addition, we're applying for a grant that, if approved, will defer our payments for 2 years and provide us with very low interest loans!
There will be an old fashioned town meeting on Monday May l2th at 8 PM at Greenburgh Town Hall. Residents will have the chance to speak out about the property and express their views in an advisory vote.
