Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner will propose a resolution at the next meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board (March 26) authorizing a six month continuation of compensation to members of the United States Military Reserves who are called to active duty as a result of the war with Iraq. We must show support for our armed forces and for town employees who may be called to serve our country during the conflict with Iraq. The proposed resolution will compensate all full time town employees who are called to active duty from the Military Reserve and National Guard during the conflict with Iraq for an extended period of six months equal to the difference between their military pay and the salaried amount the employee would have earned with the Town of Greenburgh had they remained in the employee of the town.
Reservists are willing to fight for our country. And, give their lives for our country. They have mortgages to pay, responsibilities to their families. This policy will ease some of their financial worries.
