Midway has decided to withdraw their application for approval to increase the above ground retail space on Central Ave. They plan to go ahead with the new facade for the entire front and will be assessing what leaseable space can be utilized below the main floor (as of right). Neighbors had objected to the application --feeling that variances could create a negative precedent for other shopping centers.
Here are the items Midway is applying for at this time:
Total front facade with four brick & stone towers with peaked roofs. Two of the towers contain elevators from the sidewalk to the second floor parking level and store entrance. Other features include brick planters and stoneware planters, pre-cast concrete and brick columns, painted handrails on the rooftop parking deck and brick and stone pavers on the sidewalks. There is no site work proposed within this application beyond the sidewalk replacement.
