I will be releasing my proposed 2006 budget on Monday, October 31st. During the past few weeks I have been working hard to make the budget an inclusive process. Last week our financial advisor met with the Town Board during work session to discuss fund balance issues. On Tuesday I met with the Town Board again and provided the members with a briefing on various budget options. At the meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board tonight (which begins at 7:15 PM) I will provide the public with a summary of some of the budget highlights and options. This will provide you with a chance to provide me with feedback before I submit the budget document to the Town Board. My goal in taking these steps is to gather as much information as possible to make the process inclusive and hopefully I’ll present a budget that addresses the concerns of the community.
In addition – I have been in touch with village officials. Prior to the adoption of the 2006 budget it has been suggested that the Greenburgh Town Board hold an additional hearing at one of the village halls. This hearing will be in addition to those that are scheduled at Town Hall. This hearing will provide village residents and officials with the opportunity to learn more about the services the town provides the villages and to discuss the budget as it pertains to the villages. I will recommend that the Town Board hold a public hearing at GreenburghTown Halland at one of the Village Halls prior to adoption of the budget.
Hope to see you tonight at 7:15 PM…
