More enhancements on E Hartsdale Ave this week!
Release Date: April 19, 2016
This week the small pocket park next to the former Hartsdale Train Station building (now Starbucks) will be updated with a series of new plantings. The existing benches that are placed near the World War I stone monument are going to be removed and replaced with smaller benches so that the monument will be better showcased. The existing benches will be relocated in close vicinity to the park so that more residents and visitors can enjoy the space than in the past. Many local residents have helped to shape this space over the years as well as other greenspaces along East Hartsdale Avenue. Those efforts are greatly appreciated. The plantings in the pocket park will be done in a way that will leave room to reincorporate additional plantings/groundcovers, etc. facilitating another evolution of the space.
The pocket park improvements will be complemented by the construction of a Veteran’s Memorial within DeSanti Plaza, expected to begin later this year. That project will feature landscaping, walkways, lighting and a monument to honor our veterans.
