GOOD NEWS! WESTCHESTER COUNTY WON'T OBJECT IF WE PLACE WEBCAMS ON ASHFORD AVE BRIDGE
Release Date: March 17, 2016

Got some good news from the county. Westchester County won’t object if we place webcams on the Ashford Ave bridge and on surrounding streets. The town can proceed with placing webcams on the bridge and in  unincorporated Greenburgh streets. I suggest that webcams be placed around the bridge area  in Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry so we could monitor traffic conditions 24 hours a day.
I just spoke with the Police Chief. We will proceed with implementation of this initiative.  A big thank you to the county for their response. I think this will be of help to first responders. They will be able to respond faster to emergencies because they will be able to monitor traffic before responding to incidents.  And it’s important for bridge contractors to know that they are being watched and that we expect them to work as quickly as possible to repair the bridge. My prediction: if contractors know that we’re watching them that the construction will be completed much quicker. My guess is that there won’t be prolonged periods with little or no activity on the bridge (something that has happened with other construction projects). Because – we’ll be watching!

The community will make sure that the bridge construction project will be monitored carefully.  I will advise the community when the webcams are up and running…

Hi, Paul.

Thank you for your interest in the placement of a webcam on the Ashford Avenue Bridge during the construction project.

I have shared your idea and have been advised that the county would have no objection if the Town of Greenburgh wants to install and monitor a webcam.

Your input is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Janet Lokay
