INDOOR POOL BOILER IS NOT WORKING
Release Date: March 05, 2016
Just got off the phone with Richard Fon, Deputy Commissioner of the Public Works Department. And, have been receiving updates from Andre Early, Interim Commissioner of the TDYCC. Aggravating news about the indoor pool at the Theodore Young Community Center. The boiler is not working and we are UNABLE to heat the pool. Our contractor is desperately trying to locate parts for the boiler. We are also exploring other temporary action steps we could take to address the problem so pool patrons could swim in comfort. If we are not able to come up with a short term action – we will be forced to replace the aging boiler. The cost is estimated to be over $100,000. Our pool is old . These thing unfortunately happen. We understand how upsetting this is for those who depend on their daily swim and don’t want to let you down.
I will ask that we reach out to other area indoor pools so that swimmers won’t miss their daily swims while we resolve this problem. I will provide residents and pool patrons with an update during the work week.
Sorry for the inconveniences. This is a priority of the town—to get the pool functioning.
