CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, US POSTAL SERVICE PROMISES TO COME UP WITH A PLAN OF ACTION
Release Date: March 03, 2016

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE PROMISES TO COME UP WITH PLAN TO ADDRESS OUR POSTAL COMPLAINTS!  VERY PLEASED

I had a great conversation with David Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the United States Postal Service earlier this afternoon. Mr. Williams, who is based in Washington  DC, indicated that the United States Postal Service will take a critical look at all the concerns I highlighted. They are  reviewing the e mails and complaints that I have been forwarding to their attention.   In recent years I have forwarded at least a few hundred complaints about mail delivery to officials. Many of the complaints received deal with receving mail addressed to someone else. Not being able to depend on mail deliver for medicines. Insured mail not being delivered. Not receiving bills.  Most people who contacted me praise their own mail service carrier. The problems usually occur when the carrier is replaced with someone who is not as familiar with the route.

Mr. Williams understands our concerns and promises to provide us with a plan of action to address service delivery concerns.  He is requesting that the district manager of the Westchester district have a face to face meeting.   After the meeting takes place a plan of action will be developed. I will be asking our MIS department to provide the district manager with copies of all the e mails and correspondence I have had with constituents about the postal service during the past few years so they could have a better appreciation of the extent of the problem.  The goal: To come up with a plan to resolve the complaints.

I suggested that the Postal Service consider creating a district wide Advisory Committee that could periodically meet with the district manager and local postmasters to discuss concerns and to come up with plans to help the Postal Service regain the trust of the community. Mr. Williams liked the concept.

In summary – I felt that Mr. Williams was extremely responsive. I feel that he wants to improve service. And,  to be responsive to Greenburgh and Westchester postal customers who have complaints.  He indicated that consumers who have specific complaints should call the local consumer district hotline:  914 -697-7000 (dial o for a human being!).
