Last year the Greenburgh Town Board changed the zoning on Central Ave to allow for car dealerships. Our previous code prohibited new car dealerships to be built on Central Ave. Car dealerships generate taxes to the community.
An applicant recently submitted a special permit (Car Sales use) application involving a proposal to adaptively reuse the former Barnes & Noble building and site (now known as Harrows) for a conversion to a Hyundai automobile dealership/showroom and sales lot. The proposal requires a special permit from the Planning Board as well as site plan approval from the Planning Board. Minor modifications to the existing parking layout are proposed, as is a site-wide landscaping plan. The applicant also proposes pedestrian improvements including a sidewalk along the site’s frontage with Central Park Avenue. The Planning Board review process, which will include a public hearing, is anticipated to begin in February-March.
