ROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS
OCTOBER 14TH—SEMINAR FOR STUDENTS- HOW TO RECOGNIZE POTENTIALLY VIOLENT BEHAVIOR
STUDENT NEWS NETWORK—SIX THURSDAYS FROM 4 TO 5:30 pm STARTING OCTOBER 16TH
TWO RECENT INTERNS RECOGNIZED---U OF ALBANY MAGAZINE HONORS 2014 SUMMER INTERN…JEOPARDY CONTESTANT WAS AN INTERN IN 2013
on Tuesday, Oct. 14th, in recognition of Domestic Violence Month, two high school seniors requested to host a panel discussion on “Preparing for the College Experience – How to Recognize Potentially Violent Behavior.”  These two seniors will be facilitating the discussion involving a panel of professionals (a clinical social worker who spent over 40 years working with adolescents and in public schools, an assistant district attorney, a police detective and a college administrator. 
 
The second program takes place over a period of six weeks (Thursdays, only) from 4:00 to 5:30, Oct. 16-Nov. 20, with a focus on learning broadcast journalism and speaking skills.  Students will learn/practice speaking techniques under the guidance of consultants from Toastmasters, Inc.  It’s free!
 
Two very exciting programs for students at Greenburgh Town Hall

1.            Students in Grades 11 & 12 – An important panel discussion!
Tuesday, October 14th  7:00pm to 9:00pm
 
“Preparing for the College Experience – How to Recognize Potentially Violent Behavior”
 
Panelists Include High School Seniors, Greenburgh Detective Nicholas Parikka, Assistant District Attorney Pauline Haynes, Westchester Community College Administrator, Donald Whitely and
Clinical Social Worker, Lynn Beville
 
2.              HS Students, Grades 9th – 12th
Six (6) Week Journalism Experience, Thursdays, 4:00pm to 5:30pm
October 16th through November 20th
 
“The GREENBURGH STUDENT NEWS NETWORK”
 
Students will learn…
•             Components of a Professional News Room with an intro to Broadcast Journalism with Retired NBC News Room Director, Patti Lang
•             How to research, compose and record a Public Service Announcement
•             Speaking & Presentation Skills (Toastmasters, Inc.)

Town Clerk Judith Beville has been overseeing an internship program at Town Hall since she was elected Town Clerk.
