Release Date: February 19, 2018

Hats off to our highway and parks department for their outstanding work last night -clearing snow from the roads. They did an amazing job. Roads are in good shape!  This is vacation week for area schools. Some of our snow angels are away. If you have the time and can help a senior citizen or disabled resident please advise by e mailing me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.

Looking for new supermarket options? Grocer Brooklyn Market just opened this past week at the Rivertowns Square development in Dobbs Ferry.  The store is 18,000 square feet.

The Brooklyn Market’s Dobbs Ferry location features full butcher, seafood and gourmet counters with specialties from its Brooklyn and on-premises kitchens. The store will  offers a full selection of gluten-free products.

Rivertowns Square is a new mixed-use development at the Lawrence Street exit of the Saw Mill River Parkway (exit 16).  The project was approved by the Dobbs Ferry Village Board of Trustees since the land is located in Dobbs Ferry.

Last week town and village officials met with our new County Executive, George Latimer and strongly encouraged the new county administration to establish a bus stop at Rivertowns Square. A few years ago a pedestrian lost his life crossing the Saw Mill River Parkway. There currently is no bus stop at the shopping center --employees and those who don't have cars have to take a bus to the closest bus stop on Saw Mill River Road, a distance away. That bus stop is freezing in the winter because there is no shelter over it (just a bench) and  there are inadequate sidewalks and lighting to and from the stop to the shopping plaza. It's very scary seeing pedestrians crossing the Saw Mill River Parkway trying to get to the shopping plaza.  The County Executive and his administration are giving the request for a bus stop and bus routes at Rivertowns Square their full attention.

There is land across the parkway on Lawrence within the town boundaries that is undeveloped. The town hopes that the new owners will find a use that will not overwhelm our area with significant additional traffic. Speaking personally - I would love to see that land (which has contaminants on it that need to be cleaned up) used as a solar farm.
