Our brine truck has already treated Greenburgh roads- in anticipation of snow!
Release Date: January 22, 2015

OUR BRINE TRUCK HAS ALREADY TREATED GREENBURGH ROADS - IN ANTICIPATION OF SNOW---HELPS TO ACCELERATE CLEANUP, KEEPS ROADS SAFER DURING EARLY PORTION OF SNOW, SAVES MONEY AND REDUCES INJURIES

Snow and ice is expected on Saturday.  Your town government is being proactive. We didn't wait for the first snow to hit the ground. Our roads have already been treated.

Our brine truck lays  the salt and brine mixture on roads before the snow arrives. This accelerates cleanup and saves manpower and decrease the risk of injuries.  We are trying to be proactive--we want to be ahead of the game.

Our brine truck was configured out of a Greenburgh DPW snow plow a few years ago.  .
We put the brine down on Wednesday anticipating snow Wednesday night.  The early forecast suggested 1-inch.  With the brine coating, we would expect additional salt would be unnecessary.  As it did not snow Wednesday, the brine is still on the roads and should provide the same effect for Saturdays possible storm.

Please note that this brine provides some level of ice or snow melt, at the start of a snow event, prior to crews applying road salt.  It is not a replacement for full salting of all road, except for some small snow events (1 inch maybe 2). When there is a small snow event we don't have to send crews out plowing the roads - the brine melts the snow. The taxpayers benefit: saving as much as $20,000 in overtime  and snow removal costs!

Our brine truck  helps to provide some snow melt, some traction in advance of crews coming reporting.
