WISHING DEMITA GERBER GOOD LUCK --LIBRARY DIRECTOR TO RETIRE BY END OF YEAR
Release Date: October 04, 2006

Demita Gerber, Greenburgh’s Library Director, will be retiring in December. Demita led the effort to persuade town residents to expand the library. Her efforts paid off when voters approved a 20 million dollar referendum last year. During Demita Gerber’s tenure as Library Director the Library also acquired, thanks to state funding, a cyber-bookmobile – a bookmobile that brings full library service to residents who can’t come to the Library. Greenburgh is the only library in the HudsonValleythat has a cyber-bookmobile.  Demita added books to the collection…offered more resources to residents…expanded programs...added online resources that one can access anytime from the website with a library card.

Other accomplishments include the new homework help program from Tutor.com. Practice standardized tests from LearningLibrary; expanding the CD, DVD and video collection, special events and programs. The parent/child book discussions and story times and programs for children were very successful. The teenburgh program was also popular. Check the library website: www.greenburghlibrary.org to find out what’s happening at the library.

We wish Demita Gerber good luck as she moves on. And, we thank her for her dedicated years of service to Greenburgh.
